TLG Sponsor Spotlight: Sandfire Resources

TLG is fortunate to have incredible sponsors who not only provide ongoing funding so that the Rural Program and eMentor program can continue, but also wholeheartedly support the organisation through mentorship and genuine compassion and interest.

One of TLG’s long-standing sponsors is Sandfire Resources NL (Sandfire). The copper mining company has provided TLG Rural Program with ongoing funding since 2016, supporting children experiencing disadvantage to receive one-on-one tutoring and mentoring each semester. Sandfire’s partner schools include Meekatharra District High School, Mount Magnet District High School, Mullew District High School, Pia Wadjarri Remote Community School, and Yalgoo Primary School.

Each year, Sandfire’s partnership has meant that students in these schools can receive TLG’s one-on-one tutoring and mentorship that improves each student’s individual educational outcomes, plus a range of soft skills including their confidence, resilience, and critical thinking.

During the recent winter program, Sandfire flew TLG’s Chief Executive Officer, Bridget Staude, and Chief Funding Manager, Cate Leedman, to their DeGrussa minesite. Bridget and Cate were lucky enough to be escorted to and from Meekatharra DHS by Coordinator Aboriginal Engagement, John McGuire, learning about the mine, local community and multi-pronged support Sandfire provides.

Sandfire provides our organisation with the opportunity to not only take our program to some very remote communities in Western Australia, but also see the impact in real time.

Thank you Sandfire.
