Location: Perth-based preferred; remote participation supported
Commitment: Six Board meetings per year (approx. 2 hours, 6pm AWST, mix of in-person and online) plus subcommittee work - approximately 4 hours per month

ABOUT TEACH LEARN GROW
Teach Learn Grow (TLG) is a Perth-based not-for-profit connecting volunteer tutors and mentors with remote, regional and rural primary students experiencing educational disadvantage across Western Australia and New South Wales. We believe every child deserves access to quality support, regardless of where they live.
We run two programs: our Rural Program, a week-long tutoring intensive delivered twice yearly, and our Immersion Program, a service-learning experience for Year 10 and 11 students.
ABOUT OUR BOARD
The TLG Board is a diverse team of leaders committed to our vision and mission and to effective governance under our Rules of Association. The Board meets six times per year, including the Annual General Meeting. Beyond meetings, Directors contribute through subcommittee work, policy development, attendance at TLG volunteer and stakeholder events, and support and advice to staff.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are recruiting four new Directors to help us grow the Board, broaden our networks, and bring capability we don't currently have around the table.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
All candidates must demonstrate:
A passion for TLG's vision and mission, and demonstrated alignment with our values
Qualifications and/or work experience relevant to TLG's goals, programs and governance
An understanding of responsible financial management, or willingness to undertake training
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
Exceptionally high levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
Capacity to meet the four hours per month commitment
CAPABILITIES WE ARE PARTICULARLY SEEKING
You do not need previous board experience. We provide governance training and support to the right candidate.
Candidates bringing one or more of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
Legal, risk and compliance
Human resources
Marketing, branding and communications
Volunteer management
Youth engagement
Tertiary education sector experience or networks
Financial management, not-for-profit reporting or audit
Lived experience of rural, regional or remote Australia
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A DIRECTOR
As a member of the governing body of an ACNC-registered charity you would hold duties:
to act with reasonable care and diligence
to act in good faith in the best interests of the charity and for a proper purpose
not to improperly use information or your position
to disclose conflicts of interest; to ensure financial affairs are managed responsibly
and not to allow the charity to operate while insolvent.
BEFORE APPOINTMENT
Successful applicants must obtain a National Volunteer Police Clearance, a Working with Children Check, and a Director Identification Number.
RECRUITMENT PROCESS
Submit an expression of interest using the online form
Suitable candidates are shortlisted and invited to submit a CV and cover letter
Shortlisted candidates meet with the CEO and Chairperson
Reference and regulatory checks are undertaken
Preferred candidates are invited to observe a Board meeting as a guest
Candidates apply for membership of the Association, proposed and seconded by two existing members
Appointment to the Board is subject to a successful vote of the Board
TLG reserves the right to close the process earlier than advertised if a suitable candidate is found.
