Role Description: Program Director

Organisation:

Teach Learn Grow (TLG) addresses educational inequity by providing rural and remote primary school students with free, outcomes-targeted tutoring and mentoring run by volunteers. The Rural Program recruits and trains teams of university students to travel to rural and remote schools across WA and NSW to provide one-on-one, curriculum-aligned mathematics and STEAM tutoring. Our Immersion Program offers volunteering and personal development experiences for high school-aged volunteers through our Immersion partner schools.

This Role:

The Program Director works under the general direction of the CEO and with the support of volunteer teams, to oversee the logistics of the organisation’s Rural Program in WA and NSW and manage the organisation’s operational calendar and record keeping. The Program Director will also work alongside other staff to support the High School Immersion Program, and to develop new programs to respond to community needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of TLG programs 

  • Manage and support volunteers 

  • Liaise with the CEO on operational matters 

  • Work with the CEO to plan new programs and projects that meet TLG’s strategic objectives

  • Maintain accurate records of TLG programs and impact, and prepare twice-yearly program reports for all relevant stakeholders

  • Implement relevant policies and procedures and monitor for compliance

  • Manage TLG systems 

The Program Director is responsible for leading five teams of dedicated young volunteers who meet weekly to plan and implement our programs:

  • The Logistics Team

  • The Program Support Team

  • The Education Team

  • The NSW Team

  • The Systems Team

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

We encourage all applicants who believe they have the skills to be successful in this role to apply as we can provide training to the right candidate. However, the following would be considered highly desirable:

  • Hold or be working towards a tertiary level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent work experience. 

  • Demonstrated experience in a busy and complex organisation 

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing teams

  • Demonstrated experience in an operations role 

  • Past experience working or volunteering in a not-for-profit, community or school setting

Employment conditions:

  • The role is offered at 0.6 FTE with flexible working arrangements and the expectation of occasional evening and weekend work. 

  • Remuneration will equate to approximately, $80,000-85,000 pro-rata, depending on the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications. 

  • TLG staff are also offered salary sacrifice arrangements, generous annual leave entitlements and ongoing professional development opportunities.
