Role Description: General Manager of Development

Organisation:

Teach Learn Grow (TLG) addresses educational inequity by providing rural, regional and remote primary school students with free, outcomes-targeted tutoring and mentoring run by volunteers. TLG runs a biannual Rural Program in which teams of university students are sent to rural schools across WA and NSW to provide one-on-one tutoring twice each year. Our high school Immersion Program offers volunteering and personal development experiences for younger volunteers through our Immersion partner schools.

The Role:

The General Manager of Development works under the general direction of the Development Director and, with the support of volunteer teams, implements the organisation’s marketing, fundraising and community engagement strategic objectives to grow revenue streams and volunteer resources, enabling TLG to reach more students in rural, regional and remote communities across WA and NSW.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Development Director in building and maintaining relationships with community and corporate partners

  • Support the Development Director in identifying and securing new funding opportunities, including sponsorships and grants

  • Plan and execute regular marketing campaigns, fundraising initiatives and community engagement events

  • Support the Development Director in managing existing funder relationships, including reporting obligations

  • Manage and support several volunteer teams (marketing, community engagement teams and assist in establishing, maintaining, and supporting the new fundraising team)

  • Implement relevant policies and procedures and monitor for compliance

  • Update and maintain the TLG website

  • Oversee and manage the TLG merchandise store, including the design of future products

  • Oversee the engagement of all TLG x Clubs and all on-campus engagements

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

We encourage all applicants who believe they have the skills to be successful in this role to apply as we can provide training to the right candidate. However, the following would be considered highly desirable:

  • Hold or be working towards a tertiary level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated work experience  

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, marketing or community engagement

  • Demonstrated experience in a busy and complex organisation 

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading a team 

  • Demonstrated experience working or volunteering in a not-for-profit

Employment conditions:

  • The role is offered at 0.4 - 0.6 FTE with flexible working arrangements and the expectation of occasional evening and weekend work. 

  • Must be available to work at our office in Victoria Park, WA, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • The initial contract will be for 12 months with the possibility of extension.

  • Remuneration will equate to approximately $40/hour, depending on the successful applicant’s experience and qualifications. Salary sacrifice arrangements and extended annual leave are available.

  • This role will commence as soon as possible.
